C Fish was established in 1983 as a small business selling fish door to door with fresh fillets then being produced from rented premises in Dunkineely, Co. Donegal. The business started to expand and became a major supplier to the Donegal Catch brand and the Spanish wholesale market.
In the early 2000’s the industry sought to replace dwindling whitefish supplies with deepwater species, and C Fish, invested to take advantage of these prospective opportunities. Sadly in July 2002, half of the new factory was destroyed by a fire.
At the same time, the early promise of the deepwater fish species quickly disappointed and zero quotas curtailed the supplies that the company’s investment was to take advantage of.
The company needed to re-invent itself and identified a growing market for bait products aimed at the expanding commercial fleet of crab, shrimp, lobster and whelk fishing boats in the Irish and UK fishing fleet as well as the angling industry (both sea and freshwater) in both Ireland and the UK.
C Fish further specialised in production of ingredients for the petfood industry – a major growth industry in Europe – which quickly became the company’s major enterprise. C Fish operate a nationwide refrigerated fish by-product collection service which brings raw materials to the factory year-round.
C Fish now permanently employs 18 people. A new product line in soil nutrients is currently in development.
